This instructor-development course covers the minimum knowledge and professional practices required to deliver, facilitate, monitor and close out maritime distance learning and e-learning in a controlled and auditable manner. It is based on MARINA Memorandum Circular No. SC-2021-10 and relevant STCW Regulation I/6 provisions. It also incorporates data-protection requirements under Republic Act No. 10173, Data Privacy Act of 2012, as applied to learner identity data, attendance records, assessment records, submitted learning evidence and course completion records.
The course is a two-day course. Day 1 is a three-hour face-to-face lecture. Day 2 is an asynchronous completion period for Topics 2 to 6 and the summative final online assessment. The course uses reading pages, handouts, module instructions and online assessments, and does not replace separate LMS familiarization required by the MTI or LMS provider.
